Job Summary:

The role of the carers includes providing personal care and assistance to residents, and helping out with daily tasks, including showering, dressing, meals, ensuring safety and more. Carers must communicate effectively with residents and their families, as well as work collaboratively with other staff members. Carers hold a vital role in improving the quality of life of the elderly and vulnerable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Personal Care:
    • Helping care home residents with their personal care which includes getting dressed, washing and eating
    • Ensuring residents’ safety
  • Support
    • Offer companionship to residents
    • Ensuring needs and wishes are met
    • Encouraging residents to get involved in recreational activities and hobbies
  • Assist:
    • Working with other health and social care professionals to provide holistic care
    • Providing information to family members as required.
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Involvement in writing residents’ care plans
    • Recording and reporting essential information in residents’ daily reports accurately and immediately
    • Giving feedback to health and social care professionals.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education
    • At least MQF Level 3 in Care
  • Experience:
    • Prior experience in Geriatric settings and/or a clinical setting (hospital, clinic, long-term care, etc.) is preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
    • Highly observant and detail-oriented.
    • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
    • Competency in using electronic health record systems and other medical technologies.

Work Environment:

  • Rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Physical stamina to lift and move patients, equipment, and medical supplies.
