Job Summary:

Nurses will be required to deliver individualised care to the patients. By utilizing the nursing processes of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation and evaluation, nurses must ensure safe and effective patient care delivery as well as an achievement of the desired patient outcomes. Maintaining a high standard of professionalism, Nurses will also interact with the patients, relatives and the multidisciplinary team

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Assessment:
    • Conduct initial and ongoing assessments of patients’ physical and emotional conditions.
    • Collect and interpret patient data, including medical histories, vital signs, and diagnostic results.
  • Care Planning:
    • Develop individualized nursing care plans based on patient assessment, physician orders, and established protocols.
    • Adjust care plans as needed to reflect changes in the patient’s condition.
  • Direct Patient Care:
    • Administer medications, injections, and treatments according to physician orders and nursing protocols.
    • Provide wound care, intravenous therapy, and other medical interventions as required.
    • Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as bathing, feeding, and mobility assistance.
  • Monitoring and Reporting:
    • Monitor and document patients’ responses to treatments, reporting changes or adverse reactions to the healthcare team.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including charting and electronic health record (EHR) documentation.
  • Patient Education:
    • Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatments, medication management, and discharge instructions.
    • Provide guidance on maintaining health, preventing complications, and self-care techniques.
  • Collaboration and Coordination:
    • Work closely with physicians, specialists, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to provide holistic patient care.
    • Coordinate care between different departments and services within the healthcare facility.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Follow infection control protocols, safety guidelines, and ethical standards in all aspects of nursing care.
    • Ensure compliance with national healthcare regulations and standards of practice.
  • Emergency Response:
    • Respond to medical emergencies by performing life-saving procedures such as CPR, administering emergency medications, and using defibrillators.
    • Assist in the stabilisation and triage of critical patients.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education
    • Bachelor’s degree in nursing (MQF Level 6) or
    • Diploma in Nursing (MQF Level 5).
    • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • Registered with the Council for Nurses and Midwives
  • Experience:
    • Prior experience in Geriatric settings and/or a clinical setting (hospital, clinic, long-term care, etc.) is preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Strong clinical and assessment skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
    • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
    • Competency in using electronic health record systems and other medical technologies.

Work Environment:

  • Rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Physical stamina to lift and move patients, equipment, and medical supplies.
